Over the past years, the following quote by Confucius has become a mantra in my professional and personal life. “Tell me and I will forget; Show me and I will remember; Involve me and I will understand.” Looking back over my own journey, there were many Consultants able and willing to “Tell” me what to do. Here and there I found a Mentor who was willing to “Show” me the scars from events along his own journey. But then there is a handful of faces who were bold enough to “Involve” me in a process of discovery. They are ordinary people, just like you and me, but instead of trying to tell me about the Way or showing me the Way, they were willing to come alongside and support me along the Way. They are the ones who catalysed change and who spawned understanding. They are the coaches in my life and it is to them that I will forever be grateful.
I believe lasting change comes when we “Understand”, and for this to happen
the journey starts by discovering the answer within yourself.
It's about the clay…
I am happily married to my best friend since 6th April 2002, and no other journey has taken me deeper in search of answers to the questions exploring the meaning of life. We have two lovely children, a daughter born in 2004, and a son born in 2006. As husband and father, I quickly realized that building family, is a lot easier said than done! What a journey…

Apart from building a family, I am a Professional Engineer and Project Manager by profession. The 20+ years of applying my skills in various industries throughout South Africa, have served me well in many regards. I know what it feels like to get bogged down in the details of a design, or to burn midnight oil in an attempt to stick to the critical path. The African continent is faced with numerous social-, economical-, cultural- and technical challenges that never fail to bring surprizes and unique challenges to the project life cycle execution. Being part of a team and working together to execute projects, has made me appreciate the power of the collective and the importance of respecting Mother Nature, as well as the skills and opinion of others.
As a business owner and director of a consulting firm, life has also taught me some valuable lessons by accepting accountability and responsibility for a cause much greater than my own personal ambitions. I understand the anxiety and disappointment of not meeting financial obligations at the end of the month and I too have to work hard at creating structure and focus to get things done in the VUCA world. Life and Business is about relationship, especially those relationships who are with you in the boat.

My happy place is somewhere in nature out in the open; especially on my surfski in the ocean behind the surf zone. This is where I experience exhilaration, exhaustion, fear, vulnerability and camaraderie in search of harmony. My favourite drink is freshly ground, medium roast Arabica and I can bake bread.
